Hardwood Furniture Care Guide

Preserving the Beauty of Solid Wood

Every Easton Hill piece is crafted from solid hardwood and finished to endure daily use. With proper care, your furniture will maintain its beauty for generations.

Routine Cleaning

  • Dust regularly with a soft microfiber or lint-free cloth, wiping with the grain
  • For deeper cleaning, use a cloth lightly dampened with warm water and mild soap
  • Dry surfaces immediately with a clean, soft cloth

Avoid waxes, silicone-based polishes, or heavy oils, as they can create buildup and dull the finish over time.

Best Practices for Daily Protection

  • Use coasters, placemats, and trivets to protect against heat, moisture, and stains
  • Wipe up spills promptly and keep surfaces dry
  • Do not use dishcloths or sponges that may contain grease or detergent residue
  • Avoid abrasive materials such as scouring pads, steel wool, or powdered cleaners
  • Do not use products containing bleach, ammonia, or harsh chemicals
  • Keep oven cleaners and strong kitchen products away from the surface

Avoid placing hot items directly on the wood, and avoid prolonged contact with moisture or damp fabrics.

Environment & Placement

Consistent conditions help prevent excessive expansion, contraction, or warping. Solid wood naturally responds to its surroundings:

  • Maintain indoor humidity around 40–50%
  • Keep temperatures between 60–75°F

Avoid direct sunlight, heat vents, and drafty areas.

Table Leaf Care

  • Store leaves flat in a cool, dry, shaded area
  • If stored separately, allow the leaf to acclimate in the same room before use
  • Ensure leaf alignment hardware is clean and assemble gently into the table

Avoid leaning or upright storage of leaves to prevent warping.

Indoor Use Only

Unless otherwise specified, Easton Hill furniture is designed for indoor use only. Exposure to outdoor elements can damage both the wood and finish.
